Very Nice

Nice, Provence, France
Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Any self-respecting citizen would be fast asleep by the time the alarm sounded, but I'm no such thing, and neither is Håkan. At 5:30 the taxi set off towards Landvetter, and a mere 5 hours later we gazed upon the turqoise waters of the Mediterranean, in which we promptly dipped after a rabbit lunch. As Nice is on the easternmost part of the French Riviera, and the goal in life is to visit as many countries as possible, we headed off to Monaco. Having failed to bring tuxedos, we skipped spending our cashroll at the baccarat tables, and instead lounged by the port, watching the extravagant cars, the expensive yachts and the exquisite women. However surprisingly cheap the infamous home of the astronomically rich were (two big beers and two huge pastis* for a mere €10) we had to head back, for the train for the morrow was to leave at 5:23. Yep they have a half past five in the morning now, which has become abundantly clear the last two days.
