When the waiting at Budapest Station finally was over, we steamed our way towards Prague, with the beautiful Slovakian landscape sweeping by the windows. At 1:30 we arrived at the cleanest, most spacious and airport-like train station in Europe: Praha Hlavni nádraži. A good night's sleep prepared us for a revisit to the city we both went to 15 years ago with our university buddies, after winning the cost of the trip in an all-night poker game.As the sun beamed, we entered the old city and covered the many touristy must-dos:Kafka museum, Karlov most (the Charles bridge), the Irish pub round the corner*, the Vitava, the old town square with its astronomical clock, and the John Lennon Wall.Fifteen years ago, we walked the streets of Prague, singing the Doors' "Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)", and lo and behold: round the corner there lied a whisky bar. Eager to find it again, we set off to that very same neighbourhood, but alas, the establishment had seized to be. Never to worry, for there, in the tower of Jindřišská was the Whiskeria, in which 15 year old islays** were sipped upon. For dinner it was well about time to feast on a proper steak, served with curly fries, and as everybody knows, the best curly fries in the world are served at Hooters***.With most of Prague city covered, next morning we headed for the neighbouring town of Kutná Hora, a town of some mere 21 000 citizens, that was for several hundred years nevertheless a competitor with Prague for economic and cultural influence in the region. The main event would be the wonderfully morbid Kostnice, aka 'the Bone church', where the entire decor, including pyramids, a coat of arms and a chandelier is made from human skulls and bones. As there was little time left to go to Plzen, we decided to have our beers in town. We joined a beer challenge and got a guided tour of some of the best hospodas of the pilsener capitol along with some aussies and three American brothers. Na zdraví!
